Letter of Introduction
Dear Survey Respondent,
My name is Dave Lester, and I’m an undergraduate student at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY. As an American Studies major, I am interested in the confluence of information technology and culture.
Over the past year I have been researching the Oregon Trail computer game. I've been in contact with both the game’s original creator, as well as the lead developer who has helped make revisions. This online survey is meant to evaluate the perceptions of those who grew up playing the game.
As part of my undergraduate thesis, information you can help provide by taking my survey will help me a great deal. This survey has been reviewed by my college’s Institutional Review Board to ensure that you, as a survey respondent, are being protected.
This survey is connected to the Facebook online community using their API, meaning you must have a Facebook account to complete the survey. I have done this to ensure user authenticity, and the only personal information I log in addition to the survey questions is your facebook ID.
